On September 15-16, 2023, the municipality of Libertad, Misamis Oriental, experienced a remarkable event that had a lasting impact on its residents.
The Libertad Healthcare Mission 2023, organized by the MJB Cares Foundation in collaboration with Sangguniang Bayan ng Libertad and the dedicated team of healthcare professionals and volunteers from Mindanao Humanitarian Volunteers for Peace, Budjong Integrated Humanitarian Missions, Optometric Association of the Philippines, Eye Hear Foundation, Inc., the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion Armor Division, Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, Hearing and Speech Rotary Club, MJB Cares Dental Health Team, The Grey House, DDCPH Corp., enter-Neat, and The Grey Inhouse Freediving, was filled with compassion, hope, and invaluable healthcare services.
This mission served as a testament to the power of collective goodwill. It brought together doctors, nurses, various healthcare specialists, and volunteers who selflessly offered their expertise to the local community. From medical check-ups, dental services, minor surgery, cataract surgery, eye check-ups, circumcision, hearing and speech services, prescription glasses, laboratory tests, free haircuts, to free medicines, Libertad had access to a comprehensive range of services that addressed their immediate health needs.
Over the course of this 2-day medical mission, the people of Libertad received the following services:
- Adult consultations: 342 patients
- Pediatric consultations: 239 patients
- Dental services: 411 patients
- Minor Surgery: 57 patients
- Circumcision: 86 patients
- Hearing and Speech Services: 55 patients
- Eye Check-ups: 539 patients
- Cataract Surgery: 37 patients
- Cataract Screening: 179 patients
- Laboratory tests: 321 patients
- Haircuts: 55 individuals
In total, 2,321 individuals benefited from this mission. Its success wasn’t solely measured by the number of patients seen but by the sense of hope and support it instilled in the hearts of Libertad’s residents. It reaffirmed the importance of community, compassion, and the belief that healthcare should be accessible to all.
