On April 20-21, 2024, MJB Cares Foundation embarked on another humanitarian journey, this time crossing waters to conduct a Healthcare Mission in the island-municipality of Tingloy, Batangas. Tingloy, being one of the smaller municipalities of the Philippines, it comes with no surprise that basic resources such as electrical power and healthcare is at shortage.
MJB Cares Foundation’s goal is to lend a helping hand to underserved communities across the Philippines. Together with our partners: Civil-Military Operations Regiment (CMOR), Office for Legislative Affairs (AFP), IPAO- Batangas, Budjong Integrated Humanitarian Missions, MHVP (Mindanao Humanitarian Volunteers for Peace), Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, Eye Hear Foundation, See International, Hearing and Speech Rotary Club, DDCPH, enter-NEAT, The Grey House.
During the two (2) day medical mission, a variety of different vital services were offered to the community of Tingloy. Adult and Pedia consultations offered the community a much needed check up and distributed medicines to remedy ailments that could be a hassle in the long run. Tooth Extractions was a major hit alongside other services; Ear and Hearing Screenings, and Minor surgeries, Eye check up, Cataract Surgery.
In support of the Buntis Congress program in Tingloy, MJB Cares Foundation provided ultrasound examinations for pregnant women. Dr. Melanie Sarmiento Omar, an OB-GYN specialist and past president of the Rotary Club of Makati Ayala Triangle, supervised the initiative. This project not only promotes healthy living for expectant mothers but also empowers them.
Though the irregular supply of electrical power presented itself as a major challenge of this mission. Volunteer doctors and staff manage to push through and make this mission a success.
