Libertad Healthcare Mission 2022

Libertad, Misamis Oriental – On September 14-16, 2022, a three-day medical mission that successfully served over 7,000 beneficiaries was conducted. One of the patients during the Healthcare Mission was a child with a congenital cataract, and Dr. Maria Theresa Heyrosa of Budjong Integrated Humanitarian Missions, advised that he must undergo surgery immediately because if his condition is not treated as soon as possible, he might not be able to attend school. His teacher also claims that he doesn’t frequently attend class owing to illness.

The MJB Cares Foundation, which is also a supporter of education, will pave the way and send the kid to Cebu City in the hopes that he would be able to get his eyes fixed and pursue his aspirations.

In addition, Dr. Karen Dorac, a resident physician at RHU-Libertad, said that it was the first medical mission ever conducted on the aforementioned town. Evidently, it is also a sobering realization for them to realize how many people in Libertad and surrounding municipalities still require medical attention.

On the other hand, we were able to facilitate other free services such as adult and pedia consultation, circumcision, free haircut, blood typing, sugar test, minor surgery, eye check-up, and distribution of dental kit for the kids.

We are privileged to have the opportunity to reach out to the people who are in need of basic medical care and treatment. It’s an eye-opener to everyone that there is hope and that humanity still exists. Let us work together and open the door to equality by bringing health care and help within reach to the indigent communities. It was indeed a successful activity! A big thanks to all volunteers and our parties.
