Upper Sinumaan, Talipao, Sulu – On August 27 and 28, 2022, our team, with the help of volunteers, donors, and the 6th Special Forces Battalion, under the command of Capt. Ron Villarosa successfully completed the transfer of 213 solar lights to families of Upper Sinumaan, the Peace Formation and Learning Center, and the Community Public Library. Also, we were able to teach the kids, do film shows, and do feeding programs.
We would like to express our appreciation to everyone who donated and contributed to the development of these projects.
It is very pleasant to see that we contribute to the beautiful smile of the beautiful people of Upper Sinumaan. The residents showered us with love and hospitality all the way up until we parted.
In these children’s eyes, there was love and hope for peace. In Upper Sinumaan Sulu, where no one dared to step foot, after two decades, the Philippine flag is raised once more. One of our partners in this mission pointed out that, “dati po takot silang lahat lumabas ng bahay, pero ngayon ‘yung mga bata at magulang nila excited na matuto at mapag aral ang mga anak nila ( Prior to this, all families were afraid to leave their houses. But now, children are excited to learn, and parents are happy to send their children off to learn)”.
There was so much experience, understanding their culture that is different from our own. We are eager to demonstrate to the remainder of the nation that this place is now a haven for love and laughter, not for war and hatred.
